DAILY NEWS BRIEF: Broadway closing of George Takei’s “Allegiance” and casting of “King and I”

[680 News] George Takei musical ‘Allegiance’ starring Lea Salonga and Telly Leung to close next month: “The production was inspired by the childhood of “Star Trek” icon Takei, who had family members among the 120,000 Japanese-Americans incarcerated during World War II.”

[New York Times] Watanabe Will Return to ‘King and I’ on Broadway: “Although the last few years have seen an increase in demand for Asian-American actors, Mr. Kim said, it’s still difficult to find roles like the King of Siam.”

[NBC News] Daniel Dae Kim Will Make His Broadway Debut in ‘The King and I’: “Kim’s run will follow the returns of Academy Award-nominated actor Ken Watanabe, who begins a seven-week run in March, and of Jose Llana, who played the King last summer in the revival production.”
